ShotClub Set To Launch In PHILLY/SOUTH JERSEY January 2023
ShotClub Announces First Affiliate
In the midst of the NBA season and college basketball tip-offs, it is not hard to imagine two types of spectators: those sitting on cushy living room couches with endless pizza and snacks just an arms length away; and those sitting in the arena, decked out in a jersey reppin’ someone else’s last name. Chances are, when a favorite player misses a clutch shot, the spectators’ loudly pronounce the solution: “You gotta make that!” Because if it were them, they’d never miss a game winner, right? Well, thanks to a new sport called ShotClub Shootout, they will now have the chance to prove it.
What is ShotClub Shootout?
ShotClub Shootout, a new sport and workout experience, transforms the best part of basketball – shooting – into a game, in and of itself. Shootouts are typically comprised of two teams, ranging from 2 to 8 people, who go head to head in a series of shooting challenges. From mid-range jumpers to 3-point range+ bombs, and high-arc floaters from all around the court, shooters’ get ample attempts to edge out the competition and increase their shooting percentage. Specific and consistent rules apply during each game, including passing/shooting from ShotSpots, point value variations, moneyballs, an always-heated bonus round, and more. The game is guided by a certified ShotClub pro who narrates the challenges, enforces the rules, and keeps score. In addition to winning as a team, players’ can look forward to increasing their individual shooting percentage (stats are provided after each game), as well as their shooter rating, to be displayed on ongoing leaderboards.
ShotClub Shootout Lands Its First Affiliate
Originating in the South Jersey area, ShotClub has aspirations far beyond the Garden State. Given the logistical versatility of the sport (it can be played indoor/outdoor on a half court) and proprietary technology/equipment, ShotClub has the potential to be enjoyed anywhere in the country, and eventually, the globe.
ShotClub is proud to announce its partnership with the first ShotClub Affiliate – ShotClub Philly, LLC owned and operated by long-time friends, Salim Wellington and Marcus Bullock. Having built a loyal Shooter base in the area, ShotClub Philly, LLC is a natural fit to launch the ShotClub experience, and will service the City of Philadelphia and surrounding areas, including Southern New Jersey.
Getting To Know ShotClub Philly
Owners of ShotClub Philly, LLC Salim Wellington and Marcus Bullock, are no strangers to the sports and fitness industry. Salim Wellington is a former Division 1 football player at the University of Rhode Island, with over a decade of experience as a fitness instructor and athletic performance trainer. Salim, known locally for helping countless individuals achieve their athletic and fitness goals, brings a wealth of business and fitness knowledge to the ShotClub Family.
Marcus Bullock, also a former Division 1 basketball athlete and sharp shooter for the University of New Hampshire, is an experienced basketball trainer, coach, and player development specialist who puts the “OO” in shooting. Marcus has developed the game of youth and professional athletes alike, instilling the importance of shooting well consistently and under pressure. Aside from their passion for sport/fitness, Salim and Marcus share another commonality: Love for their families. Coincidentally, they both have teenage boys who are currently playing basketball alongside one another at Holy Cross High School in Cinnaminson, NJ. Though they may now be outmatched by their sons in a game of basketball, there’s always one aspect of the game they can go head to head – shooting; and therein lies the beauty of ShotClub Shootout. Together, Salim and Marcus are the perfect combination to maximize the potential of ShotClub Philly and serve as an example for affiliates nationwide.

Describe the type of community you hope to cultivate at ShotClub Philly:
We want to build a community of players that enjoy competing, having fun, and challenging
Themselves.
Q&A with Salim Wellington:
Q: What are your thoughts on becoming the first ShotClub Affiliate?
A: I am fired up for this opportunity! It’s an honor to be the first ShotClub affiliate and I’m looking forward to spearheading the best new sport and fitness experience. I think ShotClub is going to be huge.
Q: Why are Shootouts beneficial for former and current basketball players?
A: To all the current players out there – where else can you get up 150 shots (on average) in a competitive setting, in under an hour? Shootouts are an effective way to improve your shot, and and most importantly, to learn how to shoot well under pressure. How many times will you rise to the occasion to hit a game winner? At ShotClub, you’ll find out.
As a former athlete, I can say with confidence that there are few things better than healthy competition. ShotClub gives former players the chance to stay connected to the game of basketball in a fun way that minimizes the risk of injury while still getting a good workout and an awesome experience.
Q: Why should non-basketball players give ShotClub Shootout a try?
A: Non-basketball players are always welcomed and should definitely give it a shot! We’ve designed Shootouts in a way to accommodate all participants, while providing a great workout with a good level of intensity. If I were a non-player, I’d add this to my workout regime to challenge my body differently and to add something that’s actually fun. On top of that, you will become part of a truly unique and special community. You don’t have to be a great bowler to have fun bowling – shooting is no different.
Q: What is your favorite part of the game of ShotClub Shootout?
A: My favorite part of ShotClub is that it levels the playing field for a wide variety of people to not just participate, but compete! Unlike most sports, sheer athleticism isn’t much of a factor during Shootouts, so it doesn’t matter how strong or fast you are, you can get diced by an unsuspecting opponent.
Describe the type of community you hope to cultivate at ShotClub Philly, LLC:
It’s bigger than just shooting – it’s about connecting, networking, and sharing memorable experiences with a variety of individuals. At ShotClub we create good vibes for good people. A little healthy competition goes a long way.
