Brian Magid Raises the Bar!
Brian Magid, 65, shoots 74% to raise the bar for the Winter 23’ ShotClub Season!
Although the creation of ShotClub Shootout originated in South Jersey, its vision is beginning to take shape with the highly-anticipated launch of its newest Affiliate, ShotClub EGOS. Servicing the DMV area (Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia), ShotClub EGOS is owned and operated by Riley Inge, former collegiate basketball player and Mount St. Mary’s Hall of Fame Inductee. As described by Riley, Shootouts are “a series of fun, intense, competitive shooting challenges designed for you to enjoy the best part of basketball – shooting – while getting a great sweat!” Emphasizing the diversity of participants, Riley added “It’s for anyone that has ever enjoyed seeing the ball go into the basket.”
ShotClub EGOS geared up for its first pre-launch Shootouts on February 11th, 2023 in Washington D.C. Among the participants was “DMV legend” Brian Magid, widely known in the area for his sharp shooting abilities. As the Shooters’ arrived for the first Shootout, the unique mix of participants was evident – women and men ranging from 27 to 50-years-old, and Magid, age 65. Brian Magid was clearly comfortable on the court, bolstered by a long basketball history. Magid played both Division 1 college basketball and professionally overseas, later sharing his knowledge as a coach and shooting trainer. Once the Shootout began, it didn’t take long for Brian to showcase his shooting talent, while going head to head against some worthy opponents. At the end of the game, Magid’s team walked away with a Win, and two of the highest scorers – the youngest, Becky Pund, shooting 66% overall and the oldest, Magid, with a season-high overall percentage of 74%. Following his ShotClub debut, Brian Magid described the Shootout as “a total blast” and like a true competitor, forecasted an 80% shooting performance next time.
Come Spring, ShotClub EGOS will be officially operating in the DMV area. Shootouts will be available at indoor and outdoor locations (TBD) for two divisions: ages 10-13 and 14+. “We are thrilled to partner with Riley to bring ShotClub to the DMV area”, said ShotClub Founder and CEO, Omar Wellington. “It is our goal to spread the sport of shooting to individuals across the country in promotion of physical wellness, healthy competition, and an amazing community of positive people.”
